Create Free 3D AI Game Assets with Autodesk's Wonder 3D
Plus Tripo 3D P1.0, Cinema 4D goes iPad with HY-3D AI built in, and GDC kicks off this week.

This week I broke down Autodesk's new AI 3D mesh generator, Wonder 3D. I went in skeptical, but it turns out to be a standalone tool that works with Blender and Unreal rather than being locked to Autodesk's own apps. The most interesting part is a UI hint that the platform may expand to other models down the line.
New tech updates
Tripo P1.0 is live
Tripo P1.0 shipped with its Smart Mesh tech, aimed at clean, pro-grade topology for games and web apps. It turns an image into a 3D mesh in 2 to 3 seconds, concentrating density where the model needs it. It is slightly less accurate than the Ultra model but much faster, which makes it great for scene block-ins. With the DCC bridge you can go from image to generation to PBR texturing to placement in Unreal in a minute or two.

Cinema 4D goes iPad, with AI 3D built in
Maxon announced a Cinema 4D iPad app at Mobile World Congress with Tencent's HY-3D generator built into the workflow from launch. It takes a text prompt or image reference and outputs a base 3D mesh with UVs. Both the iPad app and the HY-3D integration are slated for late 2026, with credit-based, optional pricing. It would make Cinema 4D the first major DCC suite with native, first-party AI 3D generation rather than a third-party plugin.

GDC kicks off
GDC runs March 9 to 13 with a wave of announcements expected. Unity previewed an AI beta that aims to prompt full casual games into existence with natural language, native to the platform. Tencent's AI Summit on March 10 covers multi-agent scene layout, AI-generated animation, and a pipeline that builds a full SRPG from a single prompt. AWS is showing agent-assisted production, and Roblox is leaning into MCP-powered prototyping and small teams.
New video: Wonder 3D by Autodesk
In this week's video I put Wonder 3D through its paces. Simple silhouettes hold up well, complex geometry struggles, and it takes a single-view image at about 10 cents per generation. It is a solid option for blocking in a scene in Unreal before detailed modeling. The telling detail is an empty model dropdown in the UI, which hints Autodesk may let you pick between different generators, like Tripo or Rodin, inside its studio pipeline.
