Unity 6.6
Faster Play Mode by default, WebGPU out of experimental, and a new GPU light baker.
Unity 6.6 is out, and Unity calls it the final Supported release before the 6.7 LTS (long-term support) version. New projects now use Fast Enter Play Mode by default, reloading only the scene and skipping the domain reload, so iteration is quicker. WebGPU is now production-ready for web builds, which matters most for small teams shipping browser games. Content Directories add a simpler way to organize local content than AssetBundles, a Build Analysis window shows build history and what is making builds heavy, and the new Compute Light Baker replaces the deprecated CPU baker. The caveat: without a domain reload, static variables no longer reset between runs, so older code that relies on that can break. Usable today.
Unity
Best for solo devs and small teams shipping cross-platform — especially 2D and mobile.
