Blender 5.2 LTS

Experimental hair/cloth physics in Geometry Nodes, online asset libraries, and a Cycles texture cache.

Blender 5.2 is a long-term-support release, with fixes through July 2028, aimed at work that needs a stable base. The headliners for small game teams: experimental node-based hair and cloth physics in Geometry Nodes built on the new XPBD Solver, online asset libraries you can host yourself or pull from (the Essentials library now streams on demand), and a Cycles texture cache that sharply cuts memory use on texture-heavy scenes. EEVEE gets a 2x speed-up in instance-heavy scenes, and three LoopTools operators are now native. The value compounds rather than dazzles: more work encoded procedurally, more assets shared through common libraries, bigger scenes on ordinary hardware. Node-based physics is explicitly experimental, though. Test your add-ons and exporters before moving an active project.
