Udio and UMG settle and partner

Universal Music Group and Udio settled UMG's copyright suit and signed licenses to build a new subscription platform, slated for 2026 and trained only on authorized music. For game developers the catch is a walled garden: users can create and share inside Udio but cannot download or export tracks, which directly affects whether Udio music can be licensed into a shipped game. The existing product stays up with added filtering during the transition.
