W4 Games raises $18M
Tencent leads a Series B for the company behind commercial Godot support.
W4 Games, founded by Godot's creators, raised an $18M Series B led by Tencent, bringing its total funding to $33M. It also signed a multi-year partnership with Tencent to grow Godot in Asia through localization and developer support. W4 says it will grow headcount about 50 percent and keep sending its enterprise work upstream to the open-source engine. Nothing changes for Godot users today: the engine stays free and MIT licensed. For small teams it is a signal that money is flowing into the Godot ecosystem, including the console porting help W4 sells, which is often the hardest part of shipping a Godot game beyond PC.

Best for indies who want a free, no-royalty engine and full control of their stack.
