Nekki released Cascadeur 2026.2. The headline is additive animation layers for non-destructive edits, still labelled alpha. It also adds easing controls for the spacing between keys, BVH import for mocap data, and AI Motion Generation and inbetweening retrained on larger datasets. A basic MCP server, reachable from the Scripts menu, lets an AI assistant such as Claude drive the app; MCP is the standard way AI assistants connect to other software. For a small team, layers make it easier to tweak a generated or mocap clip without rebuilding it. The update is available now, including in the free non-commercial edition, but the free edition still cannot export to standard formats. Shipping work needs Indie, $96 a year for revenue under $100K.
