Armature

A free standalone app that auto-rigs and skins game characters with machine learning.

Armature

Armature from FabricatorStudio is a standalone Windows app for rigging, the step that gives a character a skeleton so it can be animated. It places correctly named bones and uses machine learning to bind skin weights, which control how much each bone moves each part of the mesh. You refine the result and export to Unreal Engine, where it can build a Control Rig automatically, or to Maya, with Blender and Houdini supported via USD. It ships templates for bipeds, quadrupeds and props. Caveats: the AI skinning needs an NVIDIA GPU, with a slower voxel method for other hardware, and pricing is reported two ways. CG Channel describes a $149 license above $100K revenue, while the official site says free for everyone.
